WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK TO GO SAILING?
Packing to go away for your first sailing trip can sometimes feel like a stressful. Unsure of what to bring along? Here are our suggestions for the essentials guaranteed to make your trip great.
Sun Cream
If there’s one way to ruin a sailing trip, it’s spending the entire week with sore, peeling skin – not to mention all of you holiday pics being ruined by your friends looking like they’re posing with a giant lobster on board! So make sure to stock up on the SPF and apply regularly.
Wash Kit
The logistics of a sailing trip mean that you will likely spend a lot of time in close quarters with your travel buddies. So be a considerate sailing companion and be sure to pack a wash kit complete with shower necessities, deodorant, and toothbrush to avoid stinking out the seas!
Swimming Costume
Your trip will be filled with amazing spots to go for a dip so make sure you are ready with a few swimming costumes to last you the duration of your sailing adventure.
Deck Shoes
When sailing, safety is just as important as fashion so it’s best to pack a pair of enclosed shoes with a good amount of grip on the bottom to wear on deck. Whilst there is an endless supply of fashionable boat shoe lines to choose from.
Warm Jacket
Evenings at sea can get pretty chilly, so make sure you bring along a thick (ideally sea-spray proof) jacket to keep warm when relaxing after a day of fun in the sun.
Evening Clothes
Whilst it’s perfectly fine to chill out at sea all day in just your swimsuit or some comfy clothes, you might want to keep in mind the fun nights out you could have while exploring theGreek Islands, or wherever your trip will take you and pack a couple of nice summer dresses or smart shirts!
Passport
It sounds obvious and yet it seems to be one of the most commonly forgot holiday essentials – make sure you pack your passport!
Electronics
Power on boats comes from a 12V socket similar to a charger socket in a car. These can’t be used to power heavy usage electronics so this means no hair dryers or straighteners – embrace the natural sea swept look! The best way to charge your phone will be to bring a car charger with a USB lead but remember that there will probably only be 1 or 2 sockets for your whole sailing squad to use. You wont have mobile signal 100% of the time anyway so this could be the perfect opportunity to take a bit of a break from your phone!
